2017 Cotswold Life Food and Drink Awards

Emporium is delighted to be a category sponsor of one of the Cotswolds most prestigious Awards Ceremonies.

The Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards are undoubtedly one of the biggest events in the Cotswold calendar. Designed to champion and highlight the region’s food & drink industry, they include accolades for local producers and suppliers, small farming businesses, chefs, restaurants, pubs and hoteliers and people who care about the countryside and future of our local environment.

This year the awards will take place at the Centaur at Cheltenham Racecourse on 3rd July.

Emporium is sponsoring Best Local Tea/Coffee Shop of the Year. The finalists in this category are:

  • Café au Chocolat, Tewkesbury
  • Henry’s Coffee House, Minchinhampton
  • Roots Coffee & Community, Gloucester

We love a great beverage. And a bit of cake. And a sandwich or two. So this is very exciting for us!! If you love one of the finalists, let us know why – email us on info@emporiumgiftshop.co.uk

It’s ‘Double Gloucestershire’ at national gift shop finals

A family run Gloucestershire gift shop is celebrating after being shortlisted for two categories in the national finals of ‘The Greats Gift Retailer Awards’ 2015, which recognises and rewards the best gift shops in the UK.

Emporium is an independent gift shop with stores in both the Cotswold town of Winchcombe and on Bath Road in Cheltenham.

Run by husband and wife team David Theobald and Angela Teasdale it stocks unusual and tasteful gifts, homewares, toys, cards and accessories not usually found on the high street.

Working with many local and ethical suppliers to offer exclusive gifts at realistic prices, both shops have children’s areas and a men’s section, and are themed for special occasions like Mother’s Day and Easter.

It’s Emporium’s unique approach that has led to it being shortlisted in both the ‘Best Independent Gift Retailer of the Year for the South West’ and ‘Best Retail Display of Gifts’ categories.

Owner Angela Teasdale is delighted to have reached the prestigious finals. She said, “Gloucestershire’s high streets are so varied and vibrant and they really have something to offer everyone. We’re lucky to be part of two very welcoming local communities in both Winchcombe and Bath Road, Cheltenham.”

“It’s fantastic to be recognised as one of the best gift shops in the country by making the shortlist in not one but two categories. I hope it helps put Gloucestershire on the map as a great destination for independent shopping.”

The Greats Awards by Progressive Gifts and Home Magazine are now in their 13th Year and are decided by an industrywide poll which is then validated by a panel of industry experts. Sue Marks, editor of Progressive Gifts & Home said, “”These dedicated awards for gift retailers have risen immeasurably in status over the years and are now universally acknowledged as being true accolades of excellence.”

“Being selected as a finalist is a fantastic achievement. There was a huge entry this year, with some outstanding, first class entries.”

Emporium will find out whether they top their two categories at a special awards lunch at the Savoy Hotel in London on Thursday May 7th.

To celebrate reaching the final of The Greats 2015, we held a Spring VIP Evening in March. VIP guests browsed the shop with a glass of champagne, while personal stylist Lisa Buttle from Lisa B Styling was on hand to offer tips on Spring colours and how to wear the perfect scarf.

The Greats Awards 2013!

What a fantastic day we had! We didn’t win our category, but we thoroughly enjoyed our day at The Savoy.  We were lucky to be sitting with some lovely people, all of whom had been shortlisted in different categories, so we all cheered each other on.  Well done to our table buddies Bohemian Days in Gerrards Cross who won Best Independent Retailer for the Home Counties and the South East.  We were shortlisted in the best Newcomer, South and Wales and while we didn’t win, we were very proud to be in the final and fly the flag for Winchcombe at The Savoy, especially as we were the only shop in Gloucestershire to be a finalist at the Awards.  Thank you to all our lovely customers for their support and good luck messages, sorry we didn’t bring a trophy home, we’ll try again next year!

All the news and photos from The Greats will be appearing on their website soon www.thegreatsawards.co.uk – look out for us!

Emporium Gift Shop in the final!

Here at Emporium we are celebrating after making it through to the final of this year’s prestigious The Greats Awards, designed to celebrate excellence within gift retailing.

We are the only shop in the Cotswolds to be shortlisted in the ‘Best Newcomer South and Wales’ category. We are over the moon to have made it through to the final, which we see as a great achievement in itself, especially as we weren’t expecting to make it this far.

Since we opened the shop in November 2011, we have both worked tirelessly to get the shop how we want it and we’re delighted to see our efforts recognised by such a prestigious award as this. We would like to thank all our customers for the support they have given us over the last 18 months and we feel really lucky to be in a village with such a great community spirit like Winchcombe.

The Greats were launched by Progressive Gifts & Home magazine in 2003, in recognition of the tremendous contribution that retailers, both large and small, make to the success of the gift industry. Now in their eleventh year, The Greats are established as the premier awards event of the year. It brings together the entire industry for a lunchtime celebration.  To see the full list of finalists and details of the Greats Awards click here
